These are playdates that just mean so much more than your typical playdate. Maybe it’s a friend you and your child haven’t seen in a while, since vaccines are rolling out maybe it’s an indoor playdate for the first time since the pandemic started and a first glimpse of normalcy, or if a friend recently had a baby and you are bringing your family over to see them for the first time… whatever it is, it just feels different, more emotional, special and just sentimental. 

The wine pairings for this playdate were solely based off of the label and stories behind them. It does help that they are also super delicious!  

Valpolicella Classico Saseti Monte dall’Ora 2019 | How sweet is the artwork on this label.  It features five wine-colored handprints representing husband and wife winemakers + vine growers, Carlo + Alessandra and their three children. The Valpolicella is an easy to drink wine that should be served chilled with lots of raspberry, sour cherry, acidity and soft tannins. The perfect wine to get sentimental with. | ~$18

Stolpman Love You Bunches 2020 | It’s all in the label! I love YOU bunches Stolpman for producing such an amazing Sangiovese coming out of Santa Barbara County.  It’s another red to serve chilled and is extremely refreshing, has lots of sour cherry, a distinctive tartness and lovely tannins. The bottle says it all for this playdate.  | ~$23

Dissent Teneral Cellars 2018 Zinfandel | How about having RBG on a bottle of a powerful Zinfandel to send a message and make that sentimental playdate a bit stronger with all the feels. It’s a blueberry burst with subtle juicy cherry and freshly ground spices of cinnamon nutmeg and bits of pepper.
